Mark Cuthbertson
Huntington, NY - Town Councilman Mark Cuthbertson

In the 11 years that he has been on the Town Board, he supported key environmental legislation to protect the steeply sloped character of the North Shore and sponsored the Open Space Bond Act, which the residents of Huntington voted overwhelmingly in favor of. This bond allocated $30 million to fund park improvements, historic preservation and open space acquisition. As part of this effort, Councilman Cuthbertson developed a key line of funding specifically earmarked for the implementation of renewable energy projects in the Town.

A strong advocate for the quality of life within the community, Mark led the fight to block the proposed MTA maintenance facility in Greenlawn and worked with community members to block efforts to locate a power generation facility on Townline Road in the East Northport/Commack area.

Additionally, Councilman Cuthbertson used his background in real estate law to help attract large businesses to the Town including the pivotal relocation of Canon Corporation's North American Headquarters, as well as Rubies Costumes and most recently Leviton.

Councilman Cuthbertson also supported a wide variety of family friendly events including establishing the Annual Tulip Festival, the Huntington Earth Day Expo, the Huntington Bocce Tournament and the Movies-on-the-Lawn program.

As a lifelong resident of Huntington, Councilman Cuthbertson grew up in the Huntington Station area where he attended Walt Whitman High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, from Villanova University and his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Albany School of Law of Union University. While in law school, he was Executive Editor for Symposium for the Albany Law Review

He currently lives in Huntington with his wife Michelle and their three children Hunter, Elizabeth and Aiden and maintains a private real estate law practice.
